The future of debt crisis in devoloping countries
Developing countries are only now experiencing the most dramatic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. While rich economies have been able to implement unprecedented financing measures to cope with its economic impact, more fragile ones are not in the same position. The governments of many low- and middle-income countries are now at a crossroad between saving lives and servicing their debt. The measures already put in place by the IMF, World Bank and G20 governments may not be enough. Will the current situation lead to a new wave of sovereign debt defaults? What sensible options for developed economies to show solidarity? What role for the private sector?
